I graduated from Westmont College in l986. I taught 5th/6th grade in a small farming community, St. Paul Oregon. I then taught 2nd grade in the Beaverton Oregon. By 1990 I moved back to Mount Vernon, Washington. As I was teaching kindergarten for the Burlington School District, I went to Seattle Pacific University and earned my Masters in School Counseling. I had my first counseling position at Mary Purcell in Sedro-Woolley. I then moved to Lincoln School in l997 and worked as a school counselor. I then received an endorsement in Health/PE, which allowed me to work at LaVeuntre Middle School teaching AVID, Health, and Yoga. I became Nationally Board certified in 2010 in Physical Education.
Going to college and becoming a teacher/counselor was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I enjoy teaching children and find it a daily privilege to be a part of their lives. As I reflect back to my teaching days at Saint Paul, I have fond memories, however, I have learned so much since then and my AVID teaching tools along with life experience makes my classroom rich.
Personally, I have three fabulous children. I spend most of my time with them. I also love being with my parents. Family is a value that is so important to me. We travel, walk, practice yoga, dine together, and are engaged in each other’s lives. I am also passionate about YOGA. I am going to India, summer 2012, to get my 200-hour certification in Sivananda yoga.
