What is Mount Vernon Virtual Learning?
Mount Vernon Virtual Learning (MVVL) is the online program within Aspire Academy. It is a flexible, fully remote K-12 option for students and families. MVVL may be a good fit for students who respond well to independent, self-paced learning or families who have concerns about in-person instruction.
Students enrolled in MVVL have access to MVSD supports and resources. MVVL students, like all Mount Vernon students, will be issued a Chromebook. MVVL students will also continue to have access to extracurricular activities, clubs, and athletics.
About the Program
All instruction is asynchronous, with students working independently on a flexible schedule.
Students will also have access to Virtual and in-person Support Labs. A schedule of Support Lab times for students can be found on the MVVL events calendar.
In addition to weekly meetings and/or office hours and Virtual Support Labs, students and families are encouraged to connect with their teacher(s) to schedule additional support as needed.
Calendar
Please review the MVVL Calendar for key dates including the first and last day of school, holidays, and weekly and monthly progress reporting.
Registration
Students who are interested in virtual learning should contact our registrar, Denise Acosta, at dacosta@mvsd320.org.
If you are new to MVSD, it will be necessary to complete New Student Online Enrollment. Once enrolled in MVSD, please contact your neighborhood school and let them know you are interested in MVVL enrollment. We can only accept a limited number of out of district transfers, so please contact us first if you are not currently living within our district boundaries.
Finalizing Registration - Written Student Learning Plan
To finalize a student registration, it is necessary to complete a Written Student Learning Plan (WSLP). Once a student and family complete the registration steps above, you will be scheduled to complete a WSLP. Prior to signing a WSLP, the materials below must be reviewed.
- Mount Vernon Virtual Learning Student and Family Handbook: English, Spanish
- Student Acceptable Use Policy for Technology: English, Spanish, Russian
- Student and Learning Coach Expectations: English, Spanish
